Alternative Spring Break

During spring break, hundreds of student volunteers from across the United States trade swim trunks for tool
belts and team up with United Way to make a meaningful impact in communities across the country. United
Way continues its National Alternative Spring Break tradition for the seventh year by providing student
volunteers the opportunity to engage in communities through on the ground service projects in Biloxi, MS.

Among the projects on which you may work:

  • Assisting low-income families with income tax preparation -- maximizing use of the earned income tax credit
to help families manage in difficult economic times
  • Helping to build new housing or rehabilitate housing damaged by the variety of natural disasters in the last 5
    years.
  • Promote Volunteerism in the communities they serve.
